Off-White Collaborate With Sunglass Hut
Another week, another Off-White collaboration. Virgil Abloh just keeps them coming, not that we’re complaining. He’s always making moves. We’ve been seeing some suspicious shades on his chosen ones, as well as in the Off-White Autumn Winter ’18 show. Chunkier matrix style, Off-White branded with that arrow-ended X marking the good stuff. They’re all part of a capsule collection with Sunglass Hut titled “For Your Eyes Only” targeting a new Off-White consumer, and of course the long list of already loyal fans. “Sunglass Hut and Luxottica offer Off-White exposure to a wide audience that might not know about the brand,” Abloh told us. We can’t imagine a world in which Off-White is unheard of but we are thankful everyone will soon be all-knowing.
“I’ve always thought of sunglasses as an important accessory in a fashion context. It’s a small object that can give you the nuances of a brand’s opinion on design,” Abloh said. “For me, I was looking to incorporate classic shapes from the past with a youthful modern elegance. All lenses are flat, which gives each style the same edge. The shapes are all unisex, but I wanted to play with the ladylike emotion of the runway show muse.” Nice. The collection will include three thick acetate unisex styles, seen in the campaign on DJ duo Simi Haze who are often spinning the decks for all those raging Off-White parties. Here they’re chilling out in hoodies, sunglasses on, all that on-the-run drama. The window to our soul will officially be Off-White sunglasses, come March 26 when Sunglass Hut and Off-White launch a pop up at Selfridges for five days only.
