Ralph Lauren To Be Honoured For Outstanding Achievement At Fashion Awards 2016

Well, the Fashion Awards 2016 are shaping up to be quite the night, non? After news that Franca Sozzani of Italian Vogue and photographer Bruce Weber will both be honoured at the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on December 5th, we have just heard upon the grapevine that Ralph Lauren join them, taking home this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award. For, well, outstanding achievement in fashion. The big ‘un. Who can argue with that? He is still, after all, the reigning supreme of American fashion, an unstoppable force even after a career that has spanned over 50 years. On the decision, the BFC says, “over the past 50 years, Ralph Lauren and his iconic brand have helped shape and define the American fashion identity in a unique and resonant way. Through his tireless commitment to design, innovation, business and philanthropy, Ralph Lauren has established himself as a pillar of the global fashion community.” His achievements are, quite simply, impossible to summarise – he has dressed everyone from Annie Hall to the First Lady to the U.S. Olympic team. And, quite literally, everybody in between. And that’s not counting his legendary campaigns, worldwide mega-business and tireless charity work. As Natalie Massenet, British Fashion Council Chairmen said, “Ralph Lauren is an exemplary designer and businessman. He has helped to define an era in both American and global fashion with his singular vision; I know that most of us would say he has inspired us immeasurably. He has built an outstanding legacy and I look forward to celebrating him for years to come.” Mr Lauren will join previous winners Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Terry and Tricia Jones and Manolo Blahnik CBE. Massive congratulations from all at Ten Towers!
