Roland Mouret To Exit Robert Clergerie
News this morning that our favourite Frenchman, Monsieur Mouret, is to leave his position as Creative Director at Robert Clergerie. Sad, yes, but word is that Roland’s making the move to concentrate on his namesake brand, which is perfectly fine with us. He’ll be succeeded in the role by David Tourniaire-Beauciel, whose 25 year career has seen him design footwear for Maison Margiela, Phoebe Philo at Chloé and Demna Gvasalia at Balenciaga – not a shabby CV by any standards. Perry Oosting, who succeeded Eva Taub as CEO of Robert Clergerie in April, shared these kind words on Rolands replacement: “it’s a mixture of, on one side, the incredible passion of David [Tourniaire-Beauciel] towards Clergerie as a brand, because of his roots, then as a shoe designer he understands the technical opportunities and constraints. His fashion experience — what he’s done before — is amazing”. We say, onwards and upwards to all.
