Did you think we were done with celebrations? Not just yet. Thanks to Selfridges and their latest seasonal campaign, the party mode continues with an ode to joie de vivre, positivity and humour. Embracing the motto of “new year, new me,” our good friends behind the yellow flag are welcoming the decade with a project dedicated to exploring the positive sides of stylistic expression. For the first three months of the year, Selfridges will be focusing on creating an environment that will engage their customers (both digital and physical) to laugh, enjoy and reset.
Throughout the year, they will be sharing their platform to work towards making constructive changes in the coming decade, making sure the future is brighter than it seems now. Bringing back the spirit of the store’s founder Harry Gordon Selfridge, it’s all about putting joy back into luxury shopping. “There’s no hard times for good ideas,” Mister Selfridge said back in the day, and there’s never been a better time to agree.
So, what does that mean for your next shopping trip to 400 Oxford Street? Micro moments of zen thanks to positive affirmations and light therapy in store lifts, and a selection of limited edition goodies in their signature Pantone 109 colour designed by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Rick Owens. In everyone’s favourite The Corner Shop, two luxury megabrands are lined up to bring their own twist to the theme of Happy New Decade. Which ones? Still TBC. And for those in need of a good laugh (because who isn’t?), a fortnightly comedy club will take place at the recently opened cinema in Selfridges. So don’t worry, be happy and head to Selfridges.
