Ten Loves: Calvin Klein’s Installation At Design Miami/ Basel

ck_main

If ever presented with a chance to further Calvin Klein-ify our lives, we will take it. For the first time, Raf Simons is taking Calvin Klein to Design Miami/ Basel and of course, the CK barn is the setting. What would a Calvin Klein moment be without the barn? Unrecognisable, probably. But this isn’t about the barn. Raf has worked his interior design skills and created the upholstery for a series of limited edition Cassina Feltri armchairs. And they look every bit as comfortable as they do fabulous, which is always important when it comes to such things. Beauty is not pain here. Originally created in 1987, Italian architect Gaetano Pesce worked up the Feltri for Cassina as a take on a royal throne. Not an armchair for peasants. Simons has re-worked the chairs, each using a one-of-a-kind American heirloom quilt from the 19th and 20th centuries, a nice follow up from the quilts that the CK crew held in the Autumn/ Winter 2018 show. The Feltri’s numbered 1-50 will be presented around the barn in Miami, with the other 50 on sale at Cassina. Catch us perched on our Raf-ed out armchairs and Calvin Klein collection on the boday. It’s Raf’s world and we are loving living in it.
