Total excitement – Nicola Formichetti has been named creative director of Thierry Mugler, starting with the A/W 2011 collection. We can’t wait to see what he’ll do with the incredible Mugler heritage, working with the newly appointed Sebastien Peigné as head of womenswear and (one of my favourites) Romain Kremer as head of menswear.

Formichetti is a contributing fashion editor for V Man, V Magazine and Dazed & Confused, on top of being Fashion Director of Vogue Hommes Japan. He’s also contributed to 10, which makes us love him all the more. He says “Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future”, something that could also be said of his fabulous and oft insane work with Lady Gaga.

Thierry Mugler set up his eponymous house in 1974, dominating the world of fashion through the 80’s and 90’s with his elaborately staged shows, hyper femininity and beyond glam models, as well as his massively popular scent ‘Angel’. He’s most recently been seen recreating some of his wildest runway looks for Beyoncé.
