Campaigning From Home: Andreas Kronthaler Photographs Vivienne Westwood During Lockdown
Who was guilty of staying in their pyjamas all day during lockdown? We know one person who certainly wasn’t… Dame Viv of course! We’ve been well and truly treated to some stellar looks from the queen of punk over the past few months, all documented on Instagram by her hubby/creative partner Andreas Kronthaler. From sporting tartan suits to deliver climate change speeches from her back garden, to throwing on a beret and draped gown combo to go for a walk through Clapham Common, Westwood has firmly put our working from home wardrobe to shame.
Now Viv’s lockdown lewks are about to dazzle across the pages of the glossies for the next few months. The Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood AW20 campaign sees Kronthaler photograph his wife at their design studio in Battersea, London. Westwood can be seen in a polka-dotted, purple frock as she poses next to a wall of fabrics. A quick outfit change and she can be seen in a boardroom (or is it the staff room?) in an orange tartan trench that’s been deconstructed into a rather splendid, bottom-less dress. There are some pretty killer headdresses, too. Created from multi-coloured feathers and adorned with vivid blue tulle, Viv looks like a warrior from a land far from here, armoured with her signature warpaint and ready lead her legion of rebels into the tomorrow.
