Willow Smith Launches The New Prada Linea Rossa Collection With a Performance in the London Tube
“The red line” can only mean one of two things. Prada’s Linea Rossa or London’s Central Line. In a twist of events, today the two came together. To launch the AW19 collection, artist and musician Willow Smith performed an unannounced and underground (quite literally) set for commuters at Tottenham Court Road station. Playing the guitar in accompaniment, Willow dressed in a neon pink sweater, puffer, trackies and a pair of black trainers from the collection. The performance celebrated the beauty of spontaneous moments and experiences, as well as the ongoing metropolitan nature of Prada’s Linea Rossa.
The collection itself first launched at the Prada men’s and women’s show in Milan this January, form follows function and style is streamlined. Textiles are inherently technical and ergonomic factoring in the demands of everyday commuting, whilst the iconic red line logo appears striped across the chest in a new macro-scale, the connecting element of the collection as the longest tube line does from east to west London. With Prada’s commitment to sustainability, the technical jersey and padding are made from fibres created from recycled plastic recovered in the sea and landfill, which reduced CO2 emissions by 75% in comparison to virgin polyester. Sporty, sustainable and stylish – a triple threat.
