Balmain: Ready-to-wear SS16
Today at Balmain the always clever Olivier Rousteing managed to excel himself to produce a collection that had purpose, was focused and reeked of high octane gloss and glamour. The detailing in the floor length gowns was breath-taking but felt considered for what his woman wants. Luxury also came in the form of buttery suede and the multi layered frills that wafted and fluttered on tops and pants. And the girls, it was all about the girls too. Forget all the other castings, this was the Superbowl of fashion. The show included some of the most coveted girls in the industry, with the waiting crowds outside rivalling a rock concert. Watching these new Amazonians glide across the mirrored catwalk, glittering as they went there was only one thought: it was so modern – but so unapologetically glamourous. The perfect combination and what Olivier does best.
