Junya Watanabe: Ready-to-wear SS16
Junya Watanabe knows exactly what his customers want, and what will sell. That’s why in an African-tinged offering shown in a Paris museum dedicated to colonialism, he showed ring-coil necklaces, reworked Dutch Wax textiles and, by and large, billowing cotton shirt dresses with a twist of movement to their cut. He brought something interesting to otherwise humdrum garments, redesigning them to become new and fresh. Because Watanabe is a great designer, and really this show should be all about the impressive clothes.
