Oscar de la Renta: Ready-to-wear SS16

All change at Oscar de la Renta. Well, sort of. This was Peter Copping’s sophomore show for the house, and while he upped sticks from ODLR HQ by the New York Public Library to a swishy midtown ballroom with vaulted and frescoed ceiling, the mood of the clothes was much the same. That is to say grand – with swishy ballgowns in pretty macaron shades of lilac, pistachio and lots of pink. But they were also fresh, and youthful, and flirty, a Spanish mood stamping its way through the clothes in fresh Broiderie Anglaise, easily knotted bows and lotsa ruffles. There was also a carnation on ever shocking pink silk cushion, perhaps placed for us audience members to rain down on Copping. We didn’t. We were too busy applauding this virtuoso second act.
