Roland Mouret: Ready-to-wear SS16

A decade of the Galaxy? What a star turn. That was the celebration afoot at today’s stellar (geddit?) Roland Mouret show, but it wasn’t the sole focus. As the Galaxy turns ten, Mouret thought back to his own tenth birthday in 1971, to a moment of pivotal global change, economic upheaval and feminist activity. What it boiled down to was a collection steeped in joie de vivre (Mouret grew up in France, after all), a free-flowing selection of filmy, floaty crepe de chine and puckered cottons, fresh and sweet and nevertheless sharply cut. The criss-crossing straps and tangy, odd colour combos kept the looks slick rather than too sweet. And of course, the Galaxy is all of that stuff too, and appearing in a 24-frock finale: there’s also a Galaxy top, skirt, jacket and jumpsuit to invest in now too. Don’t space out too much…
