Balmain: Resort 2019
Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain wonderland is sort of like heaven, up high in the sky, metallic blue satin flags fly at the gates, where King Olivier sits and welcomes in only the most beautiful aka the Balmain Army. If you’re ugly, you’re out. Sorry not sorry. It’s the Balmain way, where all the beautiful people gather to party in the most extra outfits. For Resort 2019, Olivier is in his element. It’s an infinite summer, no end to this paradise and what does one wear when on summer vacay for the rest of their lives? Classic Balmain mini shoulder-strong, printed, studded dresses and foil-like metallic cargo pants in electrifying blues and vivid greens. Edges on Balmain-branded crops are frayed and palm trees are printed onto glittering sequinned pieces. The whole collection glitters, glimmers and shines like a good old Balmain look does, hundreds of embellishments in mosaic and crystal form reflecting under the light. Pearls and beads come in all shapes and are of course, paired with ripped and ragged denim, elevated higher in an OTT heeled boot. Need we say more. Apparently there’s 900 pieces to this collection. Now that’s a Balmain boom. We will never ask for anything more again. There’s liquid gold draping round the body, feathers flying free of shoulders and all over fringing that will shake so well when shimmying. Yes the Balmain girls are going into the hot night, partying by the beach, cocktails in hand and the moonlight beating down on all that heavy metal and reflective goodness. Olivier knows want we want and oh has he delivered.
