Burberry: Ready-to-wear AW16
Think of Burberry as Palm Springs meets Harold and Maude. A sort of relaxed, ever so slightly eccentric pared down sixties vibe. Short t-shirt dresses with pleated skirts came in shimmering metallic brocades in a rainbow of peacock hues worn under mannish check coats with oversized collars, bringing the Maude element to the collection with them. Blanket coats were a symphony of wool patchwork, which was rather fitting, seeing as the collection was actually called ‘A Patchwork’, a theme that was further underscored by long, floaty chiffon skirts and dresses made of spliced together panels of sheer lizard and embroidered florals, imbueing the masculinity of the coats with a soft femininity.
