Mom, Can I Pierce my Diamond? Delfina Delettrez Presents Her AW19 Campaign Starring Ruth Bell
Two is always better than one, but especially when we’re talking jewellery. Making all of our diamond dreams come true, Delfina Delettrez just released the campaign for her latest two-in-one collection. It’s all about the contrast of generations this season, as the pieces combine two completely different worlds. Ladylike pearls and punk-y piercings come together in the delicate jewellery with an edge. Rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces – it’s the full sha-bang, building on the elegant base of white and yellow gold. The pieces are embellished with classic akoya pearls and diamonds, now drilled through by the sturdy nose-rings reimagined in white gold. Layered with context and cultural codes, the collection presents hybrids of style as they subvert jewellery codes we think we already know. Is it a ring, a pendant or an earring? It’s whatever you want it to be, in true style of all Delfina Delettrez jewellery.
The face of the new collection is Ruth Bell, our 10+ Issue 2 cover beauty who definitely has the special skill of modelling jewellery. Perhaps it’s the two blue gems she’s been carrying her whole life… Perfectly merging the two worlds Delettrez set out to portray with her pieces, Bell represents a mix of old and new-school beauty. “Mom, can I pierce my diamond?” the campaign poses the question. The answer: yes, indeed. “My favourite piece is the two in one earring with the diamond and the pearls as it’s a punk version of the classical grand mother earring, with a touch of rebellion. As if a young girl would open her grandmother’s jewellery box and drill a piercing through the diamond,” says Delettrez. In the words of Blondie: “Dreamin’ is free…”
The new Delfina Delettrez collection is available to shop online and in selected stores.
