Erika Cavallini: It’s A Jungle Out There
Now, for this one you’re going to have to invoke the power of your imagination. Trust us, though, it’ll be worth it. So, are you ready for us to take over your brain? If yes, read on. You are in a jungle. Well, not a jungle exactly, but a room with a jungle at the end of it. A sweet-smelling, plant-filled wall, with dangling creepers that trail out over the room, almost skimming the top of your head. Some music begins. Is that a bossa nova? It’s all very calm. And then what do you see? A beautiful woman striding towards you. A model in a lightweight two-piece – loose trousers, with a long tunic top. More models appear, in an exceptional mix of tropical prints, battered ceramic earrings, puffs of frayed lace. Long, coloured coats that float in the wind. Striped tailoring that is perfect for warm, moist summers. It’s all a bit bohemian. Kind of organic. Am I in paradise, I hear you ask. No. Well, kind of. We have teleported you, via the powers of the mind, slap-bang into the middle of Erika Cavallini’s SS16 show. Isn’t it wonderful? It’s our happy place. And then, the woman herself appears on the runway to take her bow, looking effortlessly elegant in what we can only describe as luxe, loose- fitting pyjamas. And suddenly you realise who you want to be: her. Isn’t the imagination a wonderful thing?
