Fendi: Resort 2018
A feminine offering from Monsieur Lagerfeld for Resort 2018 – tweed tailoring meets bright, pastel-colours, rich florals and a sprinkling of girly Fendi furs. A sort of luscious spring meadow of a collection – pinks and pale blues that fade into lilac, oranges and yellows speckled with flowers, set against a rich, nourishing green. Because we hate actually going outdoors, but we do like the idea of it. It’s a compromise. The mannish tailoring found in the AW17 collection is back, this time re-made in a seasonal palette, combined here with rich, curtain-like fabrics cut into drapey mid-length frocks, and some very lovely fur bomber jackets that are causing a case of heavy breathing here at Ten HQ. And, on the note of heavy breathing, what’s better than a pearl necklace? A pearl bow of course. Right on the back of a jacket, or stitched on to the front of short fur coats. A softness comes through in the broderie anglaise (a more substantial take on last season’s peek-a-boo lacey dress), so too in the loose tie fastenings that wrap around the neck. A bit sexy, a bit girly, but all woman.
