Ten Loves: Hermès In-The-Loop To Go Pouch

1938 was a difficult year for the world. In anticipation of the second great war, the tensions were high wherever you went. But in those times of trouble, creative minds create some of their greatest works. That same year, it was Robert Dumas, a member of the Hermès family, who came up with a fairly simplistic design solution – to take inspiration from a ship anchor chain and turn it into a bracelet. And that’s how the Chaîne d’ancre was born, still one of the French house’s best-sellers and most recognisable pieces that serves as a jewellery equivalent to a Birkin or a Kelly.

For this season, the Hermès design team, headed by the brand’s creative director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, decided to transform the oval chainlink shape into a clutch: because it is a known fact that a woman do carry an evening bag at dinner time. The In-The-Loop To Go pouch not only has a catchy retro name, but also comes in six solid colour versions and two multicoloured ones. All in the finest Hermès Epsom calfskin, each bag comes with a wrist strap and will hold only your essentials – lipstick, phone, a card and some extra space fit for a piece of paper holding the number of whoever you decide to flirt with on the night. Our favourite in the collection is the one the most colourful one that combines all of our favourite shades via the marquetry technique of collaging leather panels. And yes, the In-The-Loop To Go pouch fits right into a stocking. Trust us, we checked…
