The Latest Loewe Paula’s Ibiza Collection Is an Ode To Balearic Ravers (And Comes With A Summery Fragrance)

We’re all in need of some sun, some sand, and a reasonably sized jug of sangria, don’t you think? Whilst it’s highly unlikely any of us will be jetting off on our holibobs anytime soon, that doesn’t mean you can’t daydream of the days we spent roaming the pure shores somewhere abroad. One way you can capture the essence of summer is through scent. Coconut-y sun cream, aloe vera aftersun, the smell of sea salt noted within your hair – all these scents are unmatched when it comes to evoking a certain nostalgia for glorious sun-kissed memories.

Now Loewe can bring a taste of summer straight to your doorstep. The Spanish luxury house has bottled such summer scents in their first Loewe Paula’s Ibiza fragrance. In a rainbow cylinder bottle, the unisex perfume combines clashing notes of fresh coconut with warm ambergris to capture an odour that reminds creative director Jonathan Anderson of his own summers spent in Ibiza as a teenager.

Kickstated in 2017, the Loewe Paula’s Ibiza annual collection of both menswear and womenswear, as well as a range of summery accessories, is inspired by the vibrant and kaleidoscopic fashions sold at Paula’s Ibiza boutique throughout the 1970s and 1980s. This year’s edition takes its cues from Ibiza’s Balearic house rave-scene; packed with neon hues and vivid prints throughout. The collection has every summer staple you could possibly imagine: striped t-shirts, airy tunics, light-weight jeans and cracking dungarees. The hedonistic value is taken up a notch with silver trousers, spikey tops and those killer Paula’s Ibiza shades – a must-have for any Loewe-clad raver. As with any collection from the brand, the accessory line is ace – including dolphin and shell-shaped bags as well as a selection of playful emblems that resemble jelly and puffer fish, as well as a range of mermaids.

Between May and August, with every product sold from the collection, Loewe will donate €40 to educational projects in the face of the global pandemic. The brand has partnered with Plataforma de Infancia — a Spanish alliance of social organizations who work to protect children in socially vulnerable groups. Loewe has also donated 100,000 surgical masks to the Spanish Red Cross and is producing non-surgical masks at their Getafe factory.

“The collection is a visual feast,” says creative director Jonathan Anderson. ” I wanted to capture the breezy spirit of the Balearics and celebrate a moment in time that saw the hedonism of these islands expand to influence subcultures across the world.” Totally joyous through and through, the collection was taken to New Delhi for a campaign lensed by Gray Sorrenti. With rooftop BMXing, tuk-tuk adventures through the city and private parties in Dilliwalen haveli, the visual portfolio offers a much-needed sense of escapism. Who wants to try BMXing in the kitchen?
