Ten Loves: Max Mara Neoprism Sunglasses
Looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses is so last year. Right now, we’re more into looking at the crumbling world in front of us through a pair of square-shaped, round-lensed glasses. Why? Well, firstly they’re going to make you smile whenever you catch a glimpse of your own face. And then there’s the fact they come courtesy of Max Mara’s latest collaboration with creative duo CoopDPS. Industrial designer George Sowden and painter Nathalie Du Pasquier teamed up with Max Mara and eyewear experts at Safilo in creating a piece of wearable art.
Neoprism are frames taking inspiration from the brand’s Prism line and updating it with the spirit of op-art by mixing simplistic geometric shapes in an abstract way. “This was our inspiration, the people we met, the ambiance, the story behind the client and their context within the exponential, ever-changing growth within the world of fashion,” said Sowden of the new sunglasses, available to buy now. They were made in a limited-edition of only 800 and come in a fruity colourway of red, orange and yellow as well as a more classic version in all-black with subtle red details. And even the packaging follows lead as it joins in the game of 1960s geometry. “The prism being a combination of a circle and a square is quite a ‘modernist’ idea, it takes us back to the time women started participating in the working life, it takes us back to the origin of Max Mara,” explains Du Pasquier. It might be almost November time, but the inkling of sunshine outside Ten Towers is telling us now o’clock is exactly the right time to get a new pair shades.
The Max Mara Neoprism sunglasses are available to buy online and in selected stores.
