MSGM: Ready-to-Wear AW18

Milan has been awash with inclusiveness, championing causes and enlightenment. At MSGM it was all about love. A love for Milano in particular. Massimo Giorgetti explained “It’s the right moment, Milano is really in a Renaissance right now, and I’m really so happy, that it’s now 2018! So it’s not Milano 80s, not Milano 90s, it’s Milano now.” And so the army of ideas was gathered from all over the city, favourite cocktail bars inspired silk prints, a whole vibrant flowing army of them as a finale; Bar Basso was knitted into scarves worn like football supporters. A squad of cheerleaders for this city. It was joyful. Up beat. Ornella Vanoni played loud and proud. Old school now school.

And the whole lot was kind of dedicated to and in honour of Alessandro Manzoni the venerated Italian writer who penned ‘I Promessi Sposi’, which every Italian child has studied. Educational. It is a love story. Permitted to marry. Of course it has a happy ending. We were happy, we loved the exaggerated shell suits, and the vinyl versions too. A slew of colour. Last show of Milano all up, we went out whistling.
