Oscar de la Renta: Ready-to-wear SS17
It’s a new dawn at Oscar de la Renta. Well almost. The new creative directors taking over from Peter Copping have been announced, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse, and they were there too. Front row though, not backstage. They won’t be making their debut till next season, so this time it was the turn of the design studio to take centre stage. Think of this therefore as an Oscar palette cleanser, a sort of hitting the refresh button to set the stage for a new era. And what did this refresh consist of? Think of it as a homage to all the hallmarks of the house. A greatest hits if you will. Dresses in all their guises, from cocktail to peasant, via a few lady like shifts, tick. Safari jackets with boxy shorts, tick. Bar shoulders and full skirts, tick. Feathers? Well obviously. It wouldn’t be an Oscar collection with a plentiful sprinkling of some high octane marabou now would it? Roll on AW17.
