Proenza Schouler Celebrate Lady Friends In New Film
May 9th shall henceforth be known as Proenza Schouler day. Not content with releasing their Pre-Fall 2016 lookbook on to the world’s fashion-famished eyes, they have also dropped this short film, made by photog-du-jour Harley Weir. Entitled PS I Love You (Ithigi Lithigove Yithigou), it’s a “modern portrait of female relationships,” apparently. Which means sisterhood, sisterhood, sisterhood. From friends to mothers to daughters to lovers, it’s a selection of fabulous women talking about the equally fabulous women in their lives, featuring Carol Kane, Natasha Lyonne, Choichun Leung, Sahara Lin and many more. “It captures the dichotomous and complex relationship between women… themes explored in the film include familial bonds, inherent rivalry, and unconditional love,” say Jack and Lazaro. A cause to be celebrated, non? Everybody needs a good lady friend.
“These are just some women in our lives. Some are friends of ours, some are people that we have admired from afar – people in and around New York that had a quality about them we found interesting,” the boys said. “Not fame necessarily but a kind of private, charismatic sort of charm. The idea was to explore this quality across all the different kinds of relationships: mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and lovers.” The video also stars Proenza’s rather nice Pre-Fall 2016 collection, and their signature Hava bag in three new styles – the cross body, and the small and medium top handles. Because alongside a female confidente, the only other good friend a woman needs is a well stocked wardrobe. Watch the film above.
