Tory Burch: Ready-to-wear AW16
Tory Burch had horses when she was a young girl. Of course she did. There’s something thoroughbred and sleek and speedy about her clothes, just like the aforementioned cross between animal and transportation. And she closed her winter 2016 shows with a shiny, spick-and-span set of jodhpurs in stretchy white. Those were the most evident example of the horsey inspo – besides heels carved like chess piece knights and horse-head prints on silk dresses (Ms Burch sported one of those herself when taking her bow). The rest of the clothes – the polished suede or eel-skin skirts, the short sporty jackets, the strapped ankle boots or the billowy gypsy dresses – weren’t especially gymkhana, but they’ll no doubt be coveted by the same kind of girls who also had ponies in their preteens.
