This Season’s Wackiest, Must-Have Accessories

It’s been a strange year for fashion, to say the least. But don’t get too comfortable, because it’s about to get a whole lot stranger. From Von Dutch truckers to the rise of low-rise jeans, it’s clear that fashion is getting a little bit weird again.

This season’s accessories are not to be overlooked. As we slowly ease back into reality, brands and fashionistas alike are breaking out their wildest add-ons to complement their post-lockdown looks. From designer water bottles to crazy over-the-top hats, we have rounded up the funkiest accessories of the season.

The briefcase

After Dior and Louis Vuitton sent briefcases down the runway in June, the accessory has been seen in the hands of our favourite fashionable celebrities including Bella Hadid and Lady Gaga. From XL to XS versions, the businessman staple has been known to be impractical by some, but the power that it exudes is undeniable. The briefcase is the most unexpected accessory of the season but we’re ready to feel like a girlboss.

Over-the-top hats

If you’re in search of some protection from this year’s unpredictable summer weather, then this trend has got you covered (literally). Outrageous over-the-top hats donned the catwalks of our favourite shows over this past year and we’ve been seeing them everywhere since. From Françoise’s extra-long pink plaid covered hat to Thom Browne’s grandma-inducing cable knit one, if you’re not going dramatic with your headwear, you’re not doing it right.

Luxury water bottles

We all know that keeping hydrated is the best beauty accessory and this trend is leaving you with no excuse not to have a drink everywhere you go. It’s time to give your regular bottle an upgrade and swap it out with its luxury brother. Givenchy attached its iterations to a crossbody chain and Marine Serre has strapped bottles to the brand’s logo-covered leggings. Thirsts are about to be quenched

House slippers

Here at 10, we’ve been living in house slippers over the past 18 months and we couldn’t be more relieved that the fashion-sphere has embraced them in all of their lazy glory. Glorified house slippers have been popping up across the collections of fashion giants and have graced the feet of fashion lovers far and wide. Balenciaga presented its version of luxury slippers boasting colourful fur and the brand’s logo on foot which are sure to keep your feet cozy. Continuing on, Molly Goddard recently teamed up with Ugg to bring us a range of fashionable slippers featuring faux fur and platforms across a variety of styles. This odd yet appreciated trend is ready to take our lazy quarantine mood to the streets and beyond.

Bags that are larger than life

Last year it was tiny purses and in 2021, it’s the turn of bags that can fit the whole kitchen sink (and then some). This trend might seem a bit excessive but we know that there is never enough room to carry all of our in-bag essentials. These super-sized versions of glamorous handbags have been seen on the catwalks of the likes of Prada and Gucci. If you’ve been struggling to find a bag large enough to fit your life inside, then we’ve got your answer.
